GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are changed in a way that doesn’t happen naturally, and we’re just not about that!

That’s why our stores carry 100% USDA organic produce and our shelves are stocked with a wide selection of “Non-GMO Project” certified foods.

What is a GMO?

GMOs are genetically modified organisms that have had their characteristics changed using genetic engineering or transgenic technology.

GMOs are created to achieve a desired trait. They help farmers with their crops specifically with insect resistance, drought tolerance, herbicide tolerance, disease resistance, reduce food waste and more.

What foods have GMO?

Most packaged foods contain ingredients from corn, soy and canola that are genetically modified. Animal feed can also be a source of GMOs, including eggs, milk, meat, honey and seafood

What are the health risks?

The safety of GMOs is still being studied. If you are concerned about impact on health and well-being, eating foods that are USDA approved, commonly known as organic, is an option to avoid GMOs.

How to shop to avoid GMO products?

The USDA National Organic Standards prohibit the use of GMOs. Our entire produce department is all organic (non-GMO) and we provide options within the rest of the store that meet the requirements for an organic or non-GMO verified label.
